Me with Louis from Rialto at the Camden Crawl |
Hi! My name is Alison, aka DJ alicat...
I've been either behind the decks, on the door or behind the scenes in and around Camden, for over 17 years.I've DJed at Koko (Club NME & Room At The Top at Feet First), The Dublin Castle (Britpop Saved My Life & The 5th Sunday), The Enterprise, The Bar Fly, Proud Gallery, The Camden Head (Nuisance),
Me with Ed from The Darkness |
Me & Viv Albertine from The Slits |
A lot of the stories I tell, I got from hanging out with, as I say my 'old music industry guys' in the pub.
And if we're lucky...one of them just might be at one of the pubs we stop at on the tour.
I am a certified guide and a member of the Camden Tour Guides Association.
I have been interviewed by several people about Britpop for their dissertations for university.
I was interviewed for Music Heritage UK's podcast about Camden and Britpop.
I have also worked on multiple projects with a variety of businesses and groups about the music history of Camden.
I am available as a consultant, fee is negotiable.
After almost 10 years of doing these tours of Camden Town, I have moved to South Korea to teach English...but Rock n Roll Camden will on with two new rockin' guides Jenny O'Drag and Dom Tidman!
Jen is a fellow American, originally from New Jersey, who's lived in North London for over 20 years. She's the lead singer of the fabulous band The Priscillas, who have performed at many of the venues included on the tour. She's known as the Punk Rock Socialite of Camden. She's friends with and has performed with a lot of the people we talk about on the tour so has some fantastic stories to tell.
Dom is a born and bred Londoner. He's lived his whole life in North London and has hung out in Camden Town most of that time. He a huge music fan and also knows a lot about the history of London. He knows stuff about Camden that even Alison didn't know about!
